Practice Makes Permanent
The way you practice will create permanent habits. Is there such a thing as good and bad practice.
Good practice comes from learning or developing a skill or tactic then putting it on repeat. This allows the brain to associate what is being learned before becoming an automatic response that you use in a game. Hitting provides great practice provided there is an aim, whether it’s finishing the swing, rallying to a certain direction or playing specific point situations and getting repeated practice to make it permanent.
Bad practice would be infrequent practice or use of the skill or tactic. You could be permanently practising poor technique which could lead to inefficiency in your game and potentially injuries, most commonly muscle strains and sprains. As a result this practice will inevitably create bad habits and shorten your tennis career.
